New reporting from Axios and National Journal spotlights Senate Democrats’ “record-breaking war chests” – “outraising their respective challengers in key states” as they head “toward this fall’s midterms in a strong position” to defend Democrats’ Senate majority.

  • Individual Senate Democrats are heading toward this fall’s midterms in a strong position… outraising their respective challengers in key states.
  • Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.)… has a history of being a strong fundraiser.
  • Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.) broke a record, raising the most money in the fourth quarter by a Granite State Senate candidate during a non-election year. She took in $3.1 million.
  • In Georgia, Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) announced last week his campaign had raised $9.8 million during the last quarter of 2021. That tally nearly doubled… his Republican challenger.
  • And in Nevada… Cortez Masto reported raising $3.3 million.

  • Democratic incumbents have amassed record-breaking war chests in the off-year.
  • Warnock was the top fundraising Democrat for the second quarter in a row, raking in $9.8 million. He entered the new year with roughly $23 million cash on hand.
  • Kelly was a close second—he raised $8.9 million and entered 2022 with $18.6 million cash on hand.
  • [Hassan] raised $3.3 million… and entered 2022 with $5.3 million cash on hand.
  • Cortez Masto in Nevada raised more money than both of her GOP challengers combined, hauling in $3.3 million and entered 2022 with $10.4 million cash on hand.
  • GOP Incumbents Outraised: The two most vulnerable GOP incumbents were outraised by their Democratic challengers.
  • In Florida… Democratic Rep. Val Demings outraised [Rubio] for a third straight quarter. Rubio brought in $5.2 million, while Demings brought in $7.1 million. Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson raised $628,000.
  • In North Carolina… The likely Democratic nominee, former state Supreme Court Chief Justice Cheri Beasley, beat [McCrory and Budd] both, raising $2.1 million and entering the new year with $2.8 million cash on hand.
