Senate Democrats Are Posting “Massive Fundraising Hauls” & “Raking In Record Sums”

Senate Democrats and candidates are “posting massive second-quarter fundraising hauls” and “raking in record sums” – serving as “the latest example of Democrats’ widening financial advantage” over their GOP opponents.

See for yourself:

POLITICO: Senate Dems, from Bennet to Warnock, post ‘blockbuster’ money ahead of midterms

  • Michael Bennet is sitting on nearly 10 times the cash of his GOP challenger, the latest example of Democrats’ widening financial advantage as they vie to keep Senate control.
  • The Colorado senator posted $3.3 million over the last three months and has $8 million on hand as election day nears, the best fundraising quarter ever for the low-key second-term senator, his campaign told POLITICO. It’s a hefty advantage over his opponent, Republican Joe O’Dea, who raised $2 million, including $1 million of his own money, and has $840,000 on hand.
  • Candidates are posting “blockbuster fundraising numbers,” as Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesperson David Bergstein put it.
  • Democrats see it as a sign of momentum after the Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade last month and an uptick in their chances of keeping the Senate.
  • “It says enthusiasm, I think it says that people understand it’s the United States Senate that confirms judges, particularly in light of what’s happened,” said Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), the No. 4 party leader.
  • In Georgia, Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock raised $17.2 million in the second quarter, spending big on TV ads but ending with $22 million on hand and blunting Republican Herschel Walker’s $6.2 million raised and $7 million cash on hand. Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) announced $13.6 million in second-quarter fundraising and Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.) raised more than $5 million as their opponents compete in late GOP primaries. Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) raised $7.5 million in the second quarter, her campaign announced Thursday morning.
  • And Democratic Senate candidates are putting up big numbers… In Ohio, Rep. Tim Ryan raised $9.1 million over the last three months, Florida Rep. Val Demings raised $12.2 million and in North Carolina Cheri Beasley raised $7.4 million.

Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman’s (D) campaign reported raising a record $11 million in the second quarter, leaving him with nearly $5.5 million cash on hand.
  • In North Carolina, Democratic Senate candidate Cheri Beasley said her campaign raked in more than $7.42 million during the period, marking a strong uptick from her first-quarter haul of $3.6 million. Beasley reported having $4.2 million in the bank.
  • On Monday, Rep. Tim Ryan’s (D-Ohio) Senate campaign said it raised $9.1 million in the second quarter, also marking a major increase from his first-quarter haul of $4.1 million. Ryan’s campaign said it has $3.6 million cash on hand.
  • “Democratic Senate candidates across the battlegrounds are smashing fundraising records – and they’re powered by energized, grassroots supporters who are committed to protecting and expanding our Senate Majority that is fighting to address working families’ most pressing priorities,” said Eli Cousin, a spokesperson for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.

POLITICO Congress Minutes: Democratic Senate candidates are posting massive fundraising hauls.

  • Democrats hoping to keep their… hold on the Senate this fall are raking in record sums in that quest.
  • What this shows: Democrats are going to be incredibly well-resourced. That applies both to races incumbents hope to hold, as well as in places where they hope to expand the map, such as Ohio, North Carolina and Florida.

NBC News: Two Democratic Senate hopefuls post eight-figure quarters.

  • Both Florida Democratic Rep. Val Demings and Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman say their U.S. Senate campaigns raised more than $10 million in the second fundraising quarter.
  • Both are staggering sums for Senate candidates… Demings and Fetterman have been some of the party’s top fundraisers so far this cycle
