NBC News: “Republican Primaries Are Already Intense, While Democrats Hold Their Fire”

New reporting from NBC News is highlighting how GOP Senate candidates “are duking it out in primary races across the country” as Democrats “let Republicans be the ones tearing into each other and leaving a lasting mark for voters.”

See for yourself how the GOP’s infighting is playing out across the Senate battlegrounds:

In Georgia:

• New reporting from the AP has put Walker’s turbulent past back into focus, spurring on escalating attacks from his GOP primary opponents who are charging that Republicans will lose the seat if Walker is the nominee.

• Walker’s GOP primary opponent Gary Black held a press conference where he “repeated an earlier statement that Walker’s past should disqualify him from the Senate,” and Latham Saddler slammed the “drip, drip, drip of stories” about Walker, stating that “Herschel cannot win this seat.”

In North Carolina:

• The Club for Growth, which is “pumping millions” into the race to back Ted Budd, went up with a Valentine’s Day attack ad that told North Carolinians to “find someone who loves you as much as Pat McCrory loves liberals.”

• The Republican field also “took pot-shots at each other” over their differing positions on the January 6th Capitol attack – Mark Walker “found it interesting that McCrory released a video Thursday aligning himself with McConnell.” McCrory has hit back, charging “I’m more conservative than my two opponents” and saying “I cannot think of anything that Ted Budd has accomplished in six years.”  

In Ohio:

• Fox News is highlighting “new Ohio Senate fireworks over Trump in one of the nation’s most heated primaries,” after Mike Gibbons went up with a new ad this week bashing J.D. Vance and Jane Timken as “Washington Wimps” and “highlighting their past comments critical of Trump.”

• With months to go until the May primary “more than $16 million” has already been spent on the Ohio GOP ad wars.

And in Pennsylvania:

• Mehmet Oz and David McCormick continue to trade fire on the airwaves as they “wage [a] battle for Trump endorsement in GOP Senate primary” and spend millions attacking each other.

• NBC News spotlighted the ad wars after Oz’s super-PAC launched a brutal new ad this week that charges “McCormick got rich off us. McCormick led a hedge fund with a billion-dollar Chinese investment program. He called China our ally.” McCormick allies hit back with a new ad slamming Oz as a “Hollywood liberal.”
