KEY VOTE ALERT: Johnson Votes Against Wisconsin Jobs and Infrastructure

In response to Senator Ron Johnson’s vote against the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesperson Amanda Sherman Baity released the following statement:

“Ron Johnson showed, once again, how his self-serving politics are hurting Wisconsinites who work for a living. He voted against a plan, backed by Republicans and Democrats, that creates millions of good-paying jobs and helps America compete with countries like China by investing in his state’s roads, bridges, clean water, and high speed internet — and he did it because he’s totally lost touch with Wisconsinites.  This vote shows just how out of step Johnson’s ugly politics are with Wisconsin’s priorities, and if he decides to run for re-election voters will hold him accountable.”

Here’s exactly what Johnson voted against for Wisconsinites when he voted no on the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act:

  • $5.2 billion for federal-aid highway apportioned programs;
  • $225 million for bridge replacement and repairs;
  • $595 million to improve public transportation options across the state;
  • $79 million to support the expansion of an EV charging network;
  • At least $100 million to help provide broadband coverage across the state, including providing access to the at least 318,000 Wisconsin residents who currently lack it.
