Johnson Called Out For Siding With China Over Wisconsinites

After voting twice against advancing the bipartisan Endless Frontier Act, vulnerable incumbent Senator Ron Johnson was skewered in a local op-ed for not representing Wisconsin’s economic interests.

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel columnist Kathleen Gallagher called out Johnson for “ignoring” the “biggest high-tech opportunity in decades” that will bring funds and jobs to Wisconsin and wrote “I understand Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) has been busy thinking about the Jan 6 storming of the Capitol, but from a business perspective all that thinking doesn’t matter a whit to his constituents’ economic well-being.”

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (Opinion): Kathleen Gallagher: Billions of high tech innovation money is available. Why is the Midwest not fighting for some of the funds – and jobs?

  • If they want high-paying jobs and a high standard of living for their constituents, why aren’t they all over legislation that’s trying to fund more high-tech growth and innovation? Particularly when much of the funding would land here.
  • The Endless Frontier Act could send $1 billion to as many as 20 potential growth centers outside of the handful that have been driving our country’s innovation growth for the better part of this century.
  • What are we sending them to Washington for if not to represent our economic interests?
  • I understand Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) has been busy thinking about the Jan 6 storming of the Capitol, but from a business perspective all that thinking doesn’t matter a whit to his constituents’ economic well-being.
  • In the midst of a chip shortage with federal government concern about Chinese dominance directing tens of billions of dollars into shoring up domestic production, and in an area that epitomizes high-tech, advanced manufacturing and good-paying jobs, what’s stopping our representatives in Washington from trying to get in on it?

The Endless Frontier Act would help level the playing field for American companies and workers and protect America’s global leadership and national security in the 21st century.
