The war of words wages on in the Florida GOP Senate primary. Last week an ally of Carlos Lopez-Cantera went on the record to trash both David Jolly and Ron DeSantis, even going so far as to call DeSantis “kind of a jerk.” Now this week, DeSantis is firing back with a few jabs of his own, going after his opponents for being insiders and too connected to lobbyists.
From Shark Tank:
“Trust me, there will be fireworks in this race. DeSantis’ Senate opponents are businessman Todd Wilcox, Lt.Governor Carlos Lopez-Cantera, who DeSantis eludes to being favored by the “Tallahassee click,” and Rep. David Jolly, who also eludes to being supported by the Washington, D.C. lobbyist class.”
“It’s only January, and the Florida GOP candidates are engaging in the divisive infighting that party leaders were desperately hoping to avoid in this must-hold state for them,” said Lauren Passalacqua, DSCC National Press Secretary. “The Republicans are stuck with a ragtag band of insiders, former lobbyists and Tea Party heroes, but whoever manages to come out of the Florida GOP primary will be left damaged and badly positioned to take on the well-qualified Patrick Murphy.”
