DSCC Statement On Senate Republicans’ Vote Against the Freedom to Vote Act

In response to Senate Republicans’ vote against the Freedom to Vote Act today, Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesperson Jazmin Vargas released the following statement:

“By refusing to even debate common sense proposals that will protect Americans’ right to vote and crack down on corruption, Senate Republicans have sent a clear message: they are standing with Trump and his allies who are waging an unprecedented campaign against our democracy. For voters, Republicans’ opposition to this bill will only heighten the stakes and importance of the 2022 election: in order to defend the sacred right to vote, we must protect and expand Democrats’ Senate majority.”

In response to the GOP’s unprecedented campaign to restrict voting rights, the DSCC has announced a $10 million voter protection campaign, Defend The Vote, the earliest commitment to a comprehensive voter protection program in the DSCC’s history.
