In response to Senate Republicans’ unanimous vote to block the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act today, Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesperson Jazmin Vargas released the following statement:
“By refusing to even debate common sense proposals that will protect Americans’ right to vote and crack down on corruption, Senate Republicans have sent a clear message: they are standing with those who are attacking the fundamental principles of our democracy for the sake of their own self-serving political agenda. Every time the GOP attacks Americans’ right to vote it only reinforces the stakes of the election – and in November voters will make their voices heard by holding every GOP Senate candidate accountable.”
The DSCC has announced a $10 million voter protection campaign, Defend The Vote – the earliest commitment to a comprehensive voter protection program in the DSCC’s history.
