DSCC Releases New TV Ad in North Carolina Senate Race: “Sold Us Out”

The DSCC released a new TV ad in North Carolina’s Senate race, “Sold Us Out,” telling the story of how Senator Thom Tillis sold out North Carolinians with pre-existing conditions to side with his corporate special interest donors.

In Washington, Senator Tillis has repeatedly put the interests of big pharmaceutical and insurance companies ahead of North Carolinians with pre-existing conditions. Tillis took more money from drug industry PACs than any other U.S. Senator last year and sided with these corporate donors when he opposed legislation to lower prescription drug costs. He also voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act and gut coverage protections for North Carolinians with pre-existing conditions. Senator Tillis has even bragged about blocking Medicaid expansion in North Carolina.

The ad is the fourth to run in North Carolina from the DSCC IE and is part of the committee’s previously announced offensive television and digital paid investments in key battleground states.

“Sold Us Out”

Transcript:

“After Josie was born, she spent months in intensive care. She depends on incredibly expensive medications. Without insurance, it would break you. But Thom Tillis took more money from drug industry PACs than any senator, opposed efforts to reduce drug costs, blocked Medicaid expansion, and voted to let insurance companies deny coverage to people with pre-existing conditions – like Josie. For Thom Tillis it’s about the money, not the people.”
