  • “BASELESS,” “GROTESQUE” AND “DISHONEST”: CRUZ’S RNC SPEECH, IN A NUTSHELL → The Washington Post: Cruz’s speech was riddled with “falsehood[s]” and “grotesque rhetoric” aimed to “stoke baseless fears” and “make a staggering, dishonest claim about his political opponents.”

MEANWHILE…CHECK THE RECEIPTS: RICK SCOTT’S QUESTIONABLE CAMPAIGN COFFERS → According to federal election records, Rick Scott has failed to return “at least $85,000” in ”donations from [a] businessman accused of trust fraud” and ripping off “thousands of families,” Axios reports.

 WITH ALL 👀 ON WISCONSIN, HOVDE’S HURTIN’ 

  • HOVDE’S FOND OF SHADY FOREIGN BANKS → Reporting from the American Journal News found that “Hovde invested millions in three separate foreign banks that were implicated in money laundering, ponzi schemes, and sanctions evasion,” including “an Italian bank that was charged with defrauding the United States.”  
  • HOVDE SAYS: IF YOU CAN’T BEAT ‘EM…MAKE UP ELECTION FRAUD LIES → The Washington Post reports that Hovde falsely claimed, “without evidence,” “that absentee ballot drop boxes could be stuffed with fake ballots,” despite “public records show[ing] he has voted absentee three times in recent years.” What’s more, Hovde called for “around-the-clock” “drop box monitoring,” but only “in Madison, one of the state’s most Democratic cities.” 

LAKE HIT ROCK BOTTOM…“THEN SHE WENT ANOTHER LEVEL DOWN” → A piece from The Arizona Republic outlined Lake’s “astonishing” interview where she appeared “arrogant, offended and angry,” “recycle[d] the disproven claims of stolen elections” and “snapped” at the interviewer when pressed about whether or not she’ll accept the results of her election, a question she refused to answer. 

THE BEAST BRINGS MORE LIGHT TO BROWN’S BAGGAGE  → The Daily Beast reported that Sam Brown “is a member of a church whose pastor backs a form of conversion therapy,” “says ‘transgenderism’ is proof of ‘demons’” and “demands gays ‘repent.’” 

SHEEHY CLAIMS TO PUT EMPLOYEES FIRST…JUST DON’T ASK HIS EMPLOYEES → Reporting from the Daily Kos shows that “multimillionaire rhinestone-cowboy transplant” Tim Sheehy claims “he put employees first,” yet former workers are suing him, “alleg[ing] that Sheehy, his brother, and their companies defrauded them out of potentially millions of dollars.”

MCCORMICK’S MESSY WEEK → This week, GOP Senate candidate David McCormick faced backlash from PA leaders and local media, “including investigative reports about his claim to have ‘created hundreds of jobs’ and that he invested in Chinese fentanyl companies before calling for a ban on those same imports,” WHYY reports.   • WCHE Radio, The Morning Show: “The inconvenient truth is that Dave McCormick, while he ran a Pennsylvania based company, he actually slashed hundreds of jobs and ended up shipping those jobs to India and China.”
  • Councilmember Mike Driscoll: “David McCormick put profits over the thousands of Pennsylvania families who have been devastated by the fentanyl epidemic across the Commonwealth.”

NO FOLLOW UPS: MORENO REITERATES (AGAIN!) HIS SUPPORT FOR AN ABORTION BAN → In an interview with CNN this week, Bernie Moreno said, “There’s some things we can do federally” to ban abortion, marking his third comment in a week expressing support for a national abortion ban.

  • Jacky Rosen’s new ad, “Bipartisan,” highlights her work lowering prescription drug costs, holding corporate investors accountable for driving up housing costs and her bipartisan efforts to cut wasteful spending. 

  • Tammy Baldwin for Senate released a new TV ad, “Pie,” featuring Wisconsin dairy farmers condemning Hovde’s comments suggesting that farmers don’t work hard every day.
