NRSC PULLS ALL IE ADS AMID “CASH CRUNCH” → POLITICO reports that the NRSC is “canceling all its remaining independent expenditure buys.” The “sudden change in ad strategy,” which the NRSC also faced scrutiny for in the 2022 cycle, comes a week after the DSCC announced a multi-million dollar TV investment in the TX and FL Senate races, accelerating Senate Democrats’ offensive efforts.

  • BOB CASEY “HAMMERED” MCCORMICK DURING DEBATE → The AP reports that Bob Casey “hammered” McCormick during this week’s Senate debate for “investments that McCormick’s hedge fund made in Chinese companies,” and highlighted “that [he] is a wealthy, carpetbagging ex-hedge fund CEO.” NBC News details how “Casey targeted questions about McCormick’s residency and his work as a hedge fund manager.”

  • WHO’S WRITING MCCORMICK’S CHECKS? HINT: THE SAME PEOPLE WHO SHUTTER PA JOBSAmerican Journal News reports that while “Bob Casey is fighting the closure of a glass plant that could leave 325 workers without jobs,” David McCormick is “funded” by the “CEO who helped make the closure possible.”
  • (PENNSYLVANIA) MOMS KNOW BEST… → Keystone Newsroom reports that “more than 70 mothers from across Pennsylvania signed a letter highlighting Dave McCormick’s anti-abortion views” writing that they “believe that [McCormick’s] record on women’s rights is extremely disqualifying.”
  • …AND THEY HAVE THE RECEIPTS TO PROVE IT → Reporting by Heartland Signal details how “McCormick recently received an endorsement from LIFEPAC, a local anti-abortion organization that fully opposes reproductive procedures like abortion and in-vitro fertilization (IVF).”
  • MCCORMICK’S LIES ABOUT LIVING IN PA MAKE THE AIRWAVES → McCormick is continuing to catch heat for his lies about living in Pennsylvania, with WPVI’s Mark Segal saying, “I go to an event, [Casey’s] there. McCormick’s not around” and WPHL’s Brittany Crampsie saying he “doesn’t have a personal experience that mirrors [Pennsylvanians].” 

AS THE MLB ENTERS PLAYOFFS, SHADY SHEEHY STRIKES OUT ON DEBATE STAGE → 

  • SHEEHY’S “PURE PRIVATIZATION” PLAN STRIKES OUT: STRIKE 1 📰→ Ahead of the debate, the Montana Democratic Party Executive Director hammered Sheehy’s disastrous plan for “pure privatization” of health care in the Billings Gazette, saying his “health insurance plan works for multimillionaires…not for working families.”
  • 🪧STRIKE 2 → A mobile billboard outside the debate in Missoula blasted Sheehy’s plan for “pure privatization” of health care, including how it would hurt rural hospitals. 

  • 📻STRIKE 3  → The day after the debate, the DSCC released a new radio ad in the Montana Senate race, “Veterans,” featuring MT Veterans slamming Sheehy for calling Veterans’ benefits “handouts” and for advocating for the “pure privatization” of all health care, even the VA, which would turn Veterans’ care over to corporations and cut benefits.
  • YOU’RE OUT: SHEEHY HAS “GONE TO EXTREME LENGTHS TO AVOID PRESS SCRUTINY” → Reporting from CNN details how “Sheehy and his campaign have gone to extreme lengths to avoid press scrutiny,” “going as far as dispatching a pickup truck to block the camera in order to let Sheehy leave without being seen in another vehicle.”

  • JUMP SCARE: HOGAN BACKED BY WEALTHY GOP DONORS TRYING TO FLIP THE SENATE → The Washington Post reports that “wealthy GOP bankrollers,” including one of the “top GOP donors” in the 2024 election cycle, “are funneling record cash” into the Maryland Senate race as part of their strategy to “tip the balance of power in Congress in Republicans’ favor.”

  • HOGAN’S PRAISE FOR ALSOBROOKS COMES BACK TO HAUNT HIM Mother Jones details how Hogan has a record praising Democrat Angela Alsobrooks, including commending her work reducing crime and stating he “can’t remember a better county executive.”
  • HOGAN’S REAL-LIFE NIGHTMARE: WAPO ENDORSES ALSOBROOKS → The Washington Post gives their “strong endorsement” to Angela Alsobrooks, writing that “Alsobrooks is the better [option]” to represent Maryland. 

LOVE MAY BE BLIND IN DC, BUT GOP SENATE CANDIDATES KEEP SHOWING WHY THEY’RE GOING TO BE DUMPED BY VOTERS  

  • MONEY CAN’T BUY YOU LOVE, BUT SHEEHY STILL HAD PLENTY OF IT…DESPITE FALSE CLAIMS OF “POVERTY” The Guardian reports that “Sheehy’s claim about living in poverty while building his company…is contradicted by his own memoir,” detailing how he had “$400,000 to build a company.” 
  • SHEEHY’S LOVE LANGUAGE: LYINGMother Jones details how Sheehy is refusing to release his medical records that would “settle the question” raised from his “incompatible stories” about his gunshot wound and detailing “the length he went to substantiate his original story” that he “is now claiming to have lied” about.
  • SPREAD LOVE, NOT HATE (WAIT, HOVDE MUST’VE GOTTEN THOSE REVERSED) → The Wisconsin State Journal details how “equal-opportunity offender” Eric Hovde perpetuated “a sexist trope about women,” saying they “spend too much time focused on what’s going on in Hollywood,” and insulted Wisconsin men, saying they’re too focused on “sports” and “fantasy sports” to be civically engaged.

SCOTT HIDES FROM HIS RECORD OPPOSING DISASTER RELIEF AND DENYING CLIMATE CHANGE → While communities are reeling from the devastation of Hurricane Helene, new reporting calls out Rick Scott’s record of “vot[ing] against several rounds of federal disaster relief as a member of Congress” and “consistently downplayed climate change — even as major storms, eroding coastlines and rising sea levels have led to a volatile home insurance market,” POLITICO details.

MORENO “BACKED PLAN TO RAISE HEALTH CARE COSTS, REWARD HOSPITAL EXECUTIVES” AT TAXPAYERS’ EXPENSE American Journal News found that while serving on the board of MetroHealth, Bernie Moreno approved budget plans that “gave bonuses to executives” at the same time the hospital was “increas[ing] prices on most of its services” at taxpayers’ expense.

OHIOANS CLAW FAT CAT MORENO FOR HIS RECORD STIFFING WORKERS → Ohioans scratched Moreno for his record stiffing workers, destroying evidence to get out of paying his employees the wages they earned, and lying about selling the Chinese-made Buick Envision which contributed to Ohio jobs being shipped overseas.   • Elissa Slotkin’s campaign released a new ad featuring President Obama discussing Slotkin’s career as a public servant and why she is the leader Michiganders need. 

  • Debbie Mucarsel-Powell’s campaign launched a new ad featuring President Obama endorsing Mucarsel-Powell, a leader who will defend Social Security, Medicare, and abortion rights.

  • Jon Tester’s campaign released a new ad, “Useless Senator,” featuring Tim Sheehy’s own words explaining how useless he would be for Montanans in the U.S. Senate. 

  • Jon Tester’s campaign also launched an ad slamming Sheehy for “tossing Montana into the grinder,” including public lands, rural hospitals, and the ability to afford a home. 

  • Debbie Mucarsel-Powell’s campaign launched a new ad slamming Rick Scott for selling out Floridians, allowing the cost of property insurance to rise to 4x the national average.

  • Sherrod Brown’s campaign launched a new ad slamming Bernie Moreno for being against abortion even in cases of rape or incest and for not respecting Ohio voters.

  • Colin Allred’s campaign and the DSCC released a new ad, “Our Stories,” featuring Texas women who were forced to flee the state to receive life-saving abortion care after experiencing pregnancy complications, because Ted Cruz’s abortion ban has no exceptions for the mother’s health or survivors of rape and incest. 

  • Colin Allred’s campaign also released a new TV ad, “On My Mind,” highlighting his fight to ensure his sons, who are fifth-generation Texans, and all Texas kids have access to the ladders of opportunity to chase their dreams. 

  • Ruben Gallego’s campaign released a new TV ad, “Safe and Secure,” featuring an Arizona police officer highlighting Ruben’s service in the Marines, his support for law enforcement, and the Arizona Police Association’s endorsement of his Senate bid.
