Democrats’ Pandemic Aid Is Working: Jobless Claims Continue to Drop, Economy Growing At Robust Rates, and Poverty Levels Hit Record Lows

Thanks to Senate Democrats and President Biden’s American Rescue Plan, the U.S. economy continues to rebound and show promising signs of a robust recovery:

• The Commerce Department reported Thursday that the U.S. economy “grew at a solid 6.5% annual rate last quarter,” surpassing pre-pandemic levels––“another sign that the nation has achieved a sustained recovery from the pandemic recession.”

• Jobless claims continue to drop, a “sign of strength for a rebounding economy” and further evidence that “the job market continues to recover rapidly.”

• And a new report revealed that the pandemic relief programs passed unanimously by Senate Democrats “will cut poverty nearly in half” and “push the share of Americans in poverty to the lowest level on record.”

Reminder: Every single Senate Republican is on the record voting against the plan that put money in people’s pockets, expanded vaccine access, and rescued our struggling restaurants and small businesses.
