Democrats Continue To Deliver For American Families: Second Round Of Tax Cut Hits Bank Accounts

As the second round of the expanded Child Tax Credit monthly payments start to hit Americans’ bank accounts today, Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesperson Jazmin Vargas released the following statement:

“As the second round of monthly tax cuts hit Americans’ bank accounts, the contrast between parties couldn’t be more clear: while Senate Democrats delivered a major tax cut for families and made it clear our priority is helping more Americans get back on their feet after the pandemic, Republicans are only looking out for the wealthy and well-connected. Voters won’t forget how Democrats put more money in their pockets, while Republicans unanimously voted against this tax cut.”

Democrats’ tax cut continues to provide tangible relief for American families:

• The latest Census Bureau Household Pulse Survey found that the tax cut is already having “a big impact on American families,” as parents report “less trouble affording food and paying for household expenses.”

• A comprehensive analysis of the pandemic relief –– including the middle class tax cut –– found that programs passed unanimously by Senate Democrats “will cut poverty nearly in half” and “push the share of Americans in poverty to the lowest level on record.”

• A MasterCard report found that Democrats’ middle class tax cut “help[ed] lift U.S. retail sales growth to 10.9%” last month––“nearly quadruple the average growth in the month of July.”
