As Senate Democrats Hold Hearings On Lowering Costs For Seniors & Promoting American Energy, The Contrast With Republicans Is Clear

In response to Senate Democrats today holding two committee hearings to discuss lowering home-care costs for seniors and promoting American energy, Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesperson Nora Keefe issued the following statement:

“Today’s hearings are the latest example of how Senate Democrats are fighting to address working families’ most pressing priorities – like lowering the costs of energy and home care for seniors. It’s a clear contrast from Senate Republicans who are pushing the agenda of the ultra-wealthy and big corporations that get rich by keeping prices high – and that’s why voters will stand with Democrats to protect and expand our Senate majority in November.”

Reminder:

• Senate Republicans’ tax-hike plan would raise taxes on over half of all seniors.

• Senate Republicans’ plan would “mean an end to Social Security, Medicare.” 
  
  • The Republican plan to end Social Security would rip benefits away from over 65 million Americans, including 97% of seniors, pushing more than 16 million older Americans into poverty.
    
  • The Republican plan to end Medicare would kick over 61 million Americans off of their health care.

• Not a single Republican voted for Senate Democrats’ American Rescue Plan that helped cut home energy costs and kept more money in the pockets of working families.
