NEW Report: Senate Republicans Plan Cuts to Programs Like Medicare

New reporting this morning details Senate Republicans are preparing a legislative agenda if they gain control of the Senate – including cuts to programs like Medicare: 

• “Senate Republicans hoping to win full control of Congress and the White House are crafting an ambitious legislative package.” 

• Giving handouts to the ultra-wealthy and big corporations that are getting rich by keeping prices high is “Topping the list.”

• “Most Republicans want to go further, floating cuts to mandatory government spending” – which includes programs like Medicare. 

In response, Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) spokesperson Tommy Garcia issued the following statement: “Senate Republicans are showing why their candidates must be defeated in November: if they gain the majority, they are already planning to cut vital programs like Medicare while giving taxpayer-funded handouts to the ultra-wealthy and big corporations that get rich by keeping prices high. Senate Republicans’ toxic agenda and wrong priorities will be one of many reasons why voters reject GOP Senate candidates in every state.”
